NEWS
- FUNDRAISER
INFORMATION. HELP THE PIDT SLED DOGS REACH
THEIR GOAL
- Eventyrer
Av Vinterskogen (Eve) has arrived safely
here at the Prairie Isle. Eve is
our new Samoyed from Norway. We
are excited to have this bundle of white
fur. Tolinka is safely at her new
home in Sweden and will be working on
the Polarullens sled team.
- PIDT
is having a custom made dryland cart
made so we will be able to offer dog
sledding experiences in the fall and
late spring! These experiences
would be based out of our kennel near
Petersburg, ND. The cart will be
designed so a guest can sit or stand for
their experience. Plus one would
still have the hands on experience in
harnessing, learning about the
equipment, how to train a sled dog and
so much more. Watch for more
updates as the summer progresses.
But if you are interested in a fall
experience please direct your inquiries
to PIDT.
- PIDT has a new Alaskan husky, Red
Sheyenne. Shey was born Jan. 24,
2010 and we are having fun with this
puppy. Trek and Tolinka play
constantly with her and the adult dogs are
very good with her. Shey will train
with the team this fall and work for PIDT
this next winter.
- PIDT is traveling to Sweden in late June
to take Tolinka to her new home and also
onto Norway to pick up our new Samoyed,
Eve. Eventyrer av
Vinterskogen. Eve was born on Feb.
14, 2010 and we are very excited to bring
new blood to the lines of the Prairie Isle
Samoyeds.
PUPPIES:
Ruby whelped two puppies, one male
and one female on Oct. 8, 2009.
All are doing great.
The male Prairie Isle NW Voyageur,
Trekker, will stay here at PIDT and the
female will be going to live in
Sweden. Her name will be Prairie
Isle Nayeli Tolinka, Tolinka. We
will make the trip to Sweden to deliver
her to her new owner and hoping to bring
a new female Samoyed home with us.
NEW SLED:
PIDT now ones a Prairie Bilt Trail
Glider Dually. I tested their
prototype last winter and Jim Miller made
some modifications when he built my
sled. This new sled will make it
safer and easier to provide unique dog
sledding experiences. Since
there is a second area for a person to
stand on the runners along with a brake
for them, I can hook up a larger team and
with the help of guest(s) (one on runners
and one in sled) people can help steer and
slow the team down. But also they
can have the feel of driving the team with
the safety of the musher present!

North
Dakota Tourism: ND Tourism has put
together a video of PIDT dog sledding
experiences. Check it out! Prairie
